Disneyland really is the happiest place on Earth. It’s one of the few places that we could visit every week and never tire of it. Planning for a trip to Disneyland is time consuming and exhausting but we recommend taking a breather every night for two weeks before your trip to watch these 14 movies before going to Disneyland.

There are tons of movies you could watch before a trip to Disneyland but these are our favorites. They’re great for both kids and adults! We choose 14 movies so that you could watch one a day for two weeks before the trip. It is a great way to build up the anticipation.

1. The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid easily has the best music in a Disney movie. There are several Little Mermaid attractions at Disneyland Resort. Including a ride, carousel and restaurant where you can meet the princess. This movie is a great way to kick off the excitement for the trip.

2. Finding Nemo

Pixar movies are a big part of the Disney parks. While there might not be many opportunities at the parks to meet Nemo, Marlin or Dory you can talk to Crush.

3. Peter Pan

There are always long lines for Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland but it’s worth the wait. With the help of a flying pirate ship and a little bit of pixie dust you will soar just like Peter Pan all the way to Neverland.

4. Toy Story

Toy Story Midway Mania is easily one of the best rides at Disneyland Resort. It’s interactive fun that everyone in the family can enjoy. You will find several of the Toy Story characters walking around the pier and at Disneyland Park there is a Buzz Lightyear ride that’s not quite as much fun as Toy Story Midway Mania but it’s another interactive ride.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean

It’s a pirate’s life for me! The Pirate’s ride is one of the most iconic rides in Disneyland it is a must ride whenever we visit. One movie in the Pirate’s of the Caribbean franchise will work or if you’re feeling adventurous watch them all!

6. Monsters Inc

The Monsters Inc ride is inside California Adventure. The ride takes you on a trip straight through the movie. It’s fun for everyone in the family. If you’re lucky you might even meet Mike and Sully outside of the ride.

7. Star Wars

As if you need a reason to watch Star Wars but you’ll find several rides based around the series. There are also shops, restaurants and shows all revolving around Star Wars.

8. A Bugs Life

At California Adventure you will find an entire area themed around A Bug’s Life. The 4D ride, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, is awesome so make sure you see that one as well.

9. Alice in Wonderland

No trip to Disneyland would be complete without a ride on the famous Mat Tea Party Tea Cups. After you’re wild tea cup journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland on the Alice in Wonderland ride. This ride is unique to Disneyland in California and you won’t find it anywhere else in the world.

10. The Haunted Mansion or The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Haunted Mansion ride changes seasonally. If you visit Disneyland from September to December watch The Nightmare Before Christmas. Any other time watch The Haunted Mansion.

11. Sleeping Beauty

The famous castle located in the center of Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty’s castle. There is a walkthrough of the castle that tells the story of Sleeping Beauty. The castle is beautiful and it’s filled with some awesome Disney art.

12. Cars

If you only watch one movie on this entire list make it Cars. Cars Land in California Adventure is one of the most well done areas in all of disney. Seriously, it looks just like in the movie. There are several rides, shops, themed food and meet and greets with the characters. Half a day could easily be spent here.
